Council Member Julie Menin is an attorney and civic leader with over two decades of experience in the public and private sectors. She served as census director, commissioner of the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and as commissioner of Media and Entertainment.

With the New York City Council, Julie has passed many bills including the groundbreaking Health Care Accountability Act. Her policy wins include advancing universal childcare, easing burdens on small businesses and codifying the right to reproductive health services.

She currently co-chairs the Council’s Women’s Caucus and serves as chair of the Committee on Consumer and Worker Protection.

Home care workers fighting to end the 24-hour work day in front of City Council Speaker Julie Menin’s home criticized her for not bringing Intro. 303 to a vote nearly three months after she promised to by the end of April.
