City Council Speaker Julie Menin confronted Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI on Friday with a sexualized image of herself that she said Grok, the company’s chatbot, returned in less than 30 seconds — moments after a company representative insisted the chatbot has “strict controls” to prevent the sexualization of real people.
The exchange came during SpaceXAI’s first appearance before the Council after the company skipped an Oct. 5 hearing on AI safety despite a subpoena and later agreed to testify following the Council’s threat to seek court enforcement.
