City Council goes toe-to-toe with Mamdani in court in battle over public school paraprofessional pay bill

The City Council filed a formal response Thursday to the Mamdani administration’s lawsuit seeking to block a bill authorizing one-time payments to NYC public school paraprofessionals.

The Council is seeking to get the suit dismissed or its demands denied, arguing these workers, including those aiding special education students, are paid so low that there are problems filling jobs and retaining employees.
