Maspeth street co-named in honor of FDNY hero Kenneth Phelan, who died on 9/11

Council Speaker Julie Menin and Council Member Phil Wong on July 22 joined elected officials, firefighters and members of the Maspeth community for a street co-naming in honor of FDNY Lieutenant Kenneth J. Phelan Sr., who died in the line of duty at the World Trade Center during 9/11.

Wong and Menin joined Phelan’s family, FDNY First Deputy Commissioner Daniel Flynn and Council Members Joann Ariola and Shaun Abreu for the dedication, which took place at the intersection of 69th Lane and Eliot Avenue. A portion of 69th Lane has been co-named “Kenneth J. Phelan Sr. Way” in his honor.
