Theona Reets-DuPont (D)

Candidate Site

Theona Reets-DuPont was born in Guyana, raised in Belgium and came to the U.S. for college. Theona’s public service began with working for non-profits in the area of food insecurity and education. Theona’s first foray into politics came when she worked as an organizer on a gubernatorial campaign in Massachusetts. In New York City, Theona has proven herself as a successful campaign manager for a City Council race and later as chief of staff. Theona also played an instrumental role in the formation of the first and largest union of legislative employees by serving on the first bargaining committee.
