Richmond Hill street co-named in honor of Shri Lakshmi Narayan temple

Council Member Ty Hankerson joined local community leaders and elected officials in Richmond Hill to celebrate the co-naming of a portion of Liberty Avenue in honor of the neighborhood’s historic Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, which became one of the earliest Hindu temples in New York City.

Hankerson joined community advocates at the intersection of 128th Street and Liberty Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 17 to celebrate more than four decades of “religious devotion, cultural preservation, and service to generations of New Yorkers” at the iconic temple.
