Queens Council Member Ty Hankerson announced that he secured an “unprecedented” $29.1 million in baseline funding for parks workers in the City Council’s FY27 Budget. As a result of the funding, the Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) officers and other parks employees will continue to receive funding each budget season, protecting their positions long-term.
“This is a major win for our Parkies, for our communities and for every New Yorker who depends on safe, clean, and cared-for parks,” said Hankerson, chair of the Committee on Parks and Recreation.
