Water debt relief coming to Rochdale Village after CM Hankerson secures DEP deal

Residents of Rochdale Village can expect some water debt relief after Council Member Ty Hankerson secured a structured agreement with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The agreement creates a path to reduce accrued interest across the community’s DEP accounts, bringing the cooperative back into good standing. It covers over $17.5 million in outstanding water and sewer charges across eight Rochdale Village accounts, including over $1.4 million in accrued interest.
