Town of Oyster Bay spend $2.8M on two lawsuits that alleged its housing programs were discriminatory

The town of Oyster Bay spent just under $3 million in legal fees on its two fair-housing lawsuits that were settled earlier this year, claiming the town’s housing programs discriminated against minorities.

The town said it paid Washington, D.C.-based law firm Covington & Burling LLP roughly $1.8 million and Carle Place-based law firm Sokoloff Stern LLP $952,000 in connection with the two lawsuits.
