Queens voters head to the polls for Assembly District 36 special election to fill Mamdani’s old seat

Mary Jobaida is a 25-year Bangladeshi-American resident of LIC running for Assembly so that working families, immigrants, tenants, and homeowners in Astoria and LIC have a truly representative voice in Albany. Her policy priorities are truly affordable housing, Health Care for All, and ending education disparity through funding reform. Mary has prior experience with NYS Senate as former constituent liaison to Jessica Ramos, advocacy with Urban Health Plan and continuous progressive grassroots organizing since 2001. She’s also a public school teacher and mother. Mary’s mission is to secure stability and dignity for the long-term and marginalized residents of AD 36.
