Former Suffolk County Executive Pat Halpin believes there he still has a chance at riding the Democratic blue wave to unseat one of Long Island’s two Republican congressmen.
U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-Sayville) declared victory on election night, but Halpin wants to make sure every paper ballot is counted, despite the fact that the Associated Press declared the incumbent the winner in New York’s 2nd Congressional District, which runs along the South Shore from Mastic Beach to Massapequa.
