Video Exclusive: Hamilton Opens Nations’s First Tech Hub In Public Housing

When State Sen. Jesse Hamilton (Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Gowanus, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, South Slope, and Sunset Park) cut the ribbon The Campus at NYCHA’s Howard Houses in Brownsville about a little more than a month ago, it became the first technology and wellness hub at a public housing site in the country .

The project creates co-working space for local tech startups and entrepreneurs, hosts coding and app development workshops, provides e-workforce development skills building, and includes a wellness focus to help confront local public health challenges, to include overcoming stress and anxiety. While The Campus’ programs is open to the community, it has a particular focus on neighborhood youth ages 12-18.
