Seddio Chummy With Both Cuomo & De Blasio

Kings County Democratic Party Boss Frank Seddio
Kings County Democratic Party Boss Frank Seddio

Kings County Democratic Party Boss Frank Seddio has forgotten more about the game of politics than many new up-and-comers know.

A case in point, was Governor Andrew Cuomo’s whirlwind stop through Brooklyn earlier this month, first for a fundraiser for the Kings County Dems, and later to talk about criminal justice reform in front of most of Central Brooklyn’s black leadership including Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, State Sen. Velmanette Montgomery, Assembly Members Annette Robinson, Latrice walker and Walter Mosley Jr., And City Council Member’s Robert Cornegy Jr. and Laurie Cumbo.

Seddio says he has long maintained a good relationship with Cuomo. He also has a very good relationship with Mayor de Blasio, and it was telling that when the mayor was first elected in 2013, one of the first stops he made was to Seddio in Canarsie.

But so far as the political feud between Cuomo and de Blasio, Seddio knows better then to get involved.

“I get along with them both,” said Seddio. “I’m the rowboat between two battle ships.”

Competing Dem Club Debate Watch Parties

Political junkies looking for a Democratic Party Presidential debate watch party on this coming Tuesday will have at least two to choose from.

In central Brooklyn, the Vanguard Independent Democratic Association (VIDA) has one slated from 6-11 p.m. (the debate starts at 9 p.m.) will hold one at Brooklyn Wine Yard 1114 Fulton Street at the corner of Franklin Avenue. Besides watching the debate, WBLS DJ Snatch One will be on the 1’s and 2’s, and drink and food specials are all night long.

VIDA will also have information for casting your vote in the upcoming primaries, and voter registration forms on hand!

Everyone is invited to attend! Please RSVP by clicking HERE.
Not to be outdone the Brooklyn Young Democrats are having a debate party at the Die Korlner Bierhall (DKH Beer Hall),   84 ST. Marks Place in Lower Park Slope. Here’s the Facebook Page to the event.

Local Gossip overheard in a bar: Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte has her eyes on the governor’s mansion. If so, Bichotte better first start thinking about her re-election next year. While it’s hard to beat an incumbent she is only a freshman lawmaker and word on the street is that both orthodox Jews in the district and longtime Democrats may be looking for somebody to challenge her.
Speaking of assembly races, other political question’s on people’s lips are the semi-annual gossip on whether next year will be the year that longtime Bed-Stuy lawmaker Assembly Member Annette Robinson will retire. Several other candidates, such as CB 3 Chair Tremaine Wright has been patiently waiting in the wings for the respected Robinson to step down so there could be a peaceful political transition. If Robinson does run for re-election, it will be interesting to see if Wright runs against her in the primary. Both are affiliated with the powerful Vanguard Independent Democrats Association.
See y all on Monday. Have a great weekend!
