What influenced you to pursue a career in this field?
There was never anyone advocating for my community or my friends who were struggling. It was important to me to break down barriers that allowed others to have a chance in my neighborhood. Everyone should have affordable housing, child care and health care.

Do you have any advice for someone interested in a career in public relations or lobbying?
Be persistent; never give up; there is always a way forward no matter how hard it gets.

What skills do you think are most useful to succeed in this industry?
I think having an organizer’s mind helps. Ask for advice and never be afraid of asking a “stupid” question. You know more than you think you do.
