Candidate: New York State Assembly / District 038

Jenifer Rajkumar (D)

(Incumbent)

Candidate Site

Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar is a trailblazing leader, civil rights attorney, and relentless public servant. The first South Asian American woman elected to New York State office, she is known as “the People’s Lawyer” for delivering impossible wins: making Diwali a school holiday, shutting down illegal smoke shops, and securing full human rights protections for domestic workers. A Stanford Law graduate, former CUNY professor, and former director of immigration affairs, she built a first-in-the-nation immigrant legal defense program. In South Queens, she is expanding opportunity for all through robust constituent services, reviving Atlantic Avenue, and putting government at people’s doorstep.
