New York City Council finance chair Justin Brannan is a candidate for New York City comptroller with roots in Brooklyn and an unconventional journey to public service. Before politics, Justin toured the world as a professional musician. Today, as finance chair, Justin has fought successfully against cuts to PreK, libraries, education, and after-school programs, and secured the city’s first homeowner tax rebate in 15 years. Dedicated to affordability, childcare, education, and pension security, Justin’s mission is clear: challenge the status quo, hold government accountable, and ensure every city dollar benefits hardworking New Yorkers, creating a city where working families thrive.
