Electeds call for safety improvements at Woodside intersection where 19-year-old Nishath Jannath was fatally struck

A cohort of local elected officials has called on Queens Borough Transportation Commissioner Liz Garcia to address safety hazards at a Woodside intersection where 19-year-old Nishath Jannath was run over and killed by a private garbage truck in March.

Assembly Member Steven Raga, Council Member Julie Won and U.S. Rep. Grace Meng wrote to Garcia on Sept. 28 calling on the Department of Transportation to address concerns at the intersection of 62nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
