Brooklyn Dems’ leadership battle hits new snag in court as parties battle over legal representation

The legal battle over who, exactly, is in charge of the Brooklyn Democratic Party cannot continue until a judge decides which lawyers are authorized to represent the party in court.

Last week, Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Lisa Lewis declared that former party chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn’s term ended on Sept. 23. For now, she ruled, the only person with county-wide authority is newly-elected county committee chair Nydia Velazquez.
