Suozzi, religious leaders, push for passage of bill that would create buffer zone around houses of worship

Over two dozen faith leaders across several different religions stood behind U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-Glen Cove) as he called for the passing of the Right to Worship Act, a bill aimed at protecting access to houses of worship by creating a buffer zone during services and imposing civil penalties on people who intentionally block, intimidate or disrupt worshippers.

Suozzi highlighted the bipartisan, bicameral bill at a press conference at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove on Wednesday, Sept. 9, just days before the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
