EPA head Lee Zeldin taps new director of Long Island Sound Partnership during visit to the region

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin made several stops during his three-day tour of Long Island, which included naming the new director of the Long Island Sound Partnership.

Zeldin announced on Thursday, Aug. 27, at a press conference in Port Jefferson that Nicole (Nikki) Tachiki would become the new head of the partnership, a collaboration between the EPA, New York and Connecticut consisting of federal and state agencies, user groups, concerned organizations, and individuals dedicated to restoring and protecting the Sound.
