Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s answer to DOGE wants New Yorkers to change the City Charter this fall to speed up outdoor dining approvals, street safety projects, construction permitting and certain sales of city-owned land.
The mayor’s Commission on Government Efficiency (COGE) released five proposed ballot questions on July 23 that would also change city contracting rules and establish a formula governing contributions to the city’s rainy day fund.
