The New York State Trial Lawyers Association used its annual Law Day gala to send a message: Upholding the principles of equal justice under the law, the independent judiciary and the rule of law are more important than ever.
The organization’s leaders and its 2026 honorees – Court of Appeals Associate Justice Jenny Rivera, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who’s known for representing families like George Floyd’s and Breonna Taylor’s in high-profile police brutality cases – emphasized that it’s frequently trial attorneys who are critical to keeping those pillars of the legal system standing.
