As Lake Success officials prepare for a public hearing on July 13 on a proposed zoning change that could pave the way for Nassau County’s first recreational cannabis dispensary, opposition among residents has continued to grow.
More than 700 residents had signed an online petition opposing the proposal as of Monday morning, according to organizers. Residents have also launched a website dedicated to the opposition campaign to share information about the proposal and organize community efforts. In addition, they have begun reaching out to neighboring villages, the Great Neck school district and the Town of North Hempstead seeking support in their effort to halt the plan.
