Town of Oyster Bay harvest kelp from waterways in environmental conservation efforts

Oyster Bay Town officials and community organizations have come together to harvest kelp at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park as part of the town’s effort to improve the water quality in Oyster Bay.

The town plants kelp lines at marina locations in Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Tappen Beach, TOBAY Beach, Oyster Bay Harbor and Cold Spring Harbor Conservation Management Areas each winter for prime cultivation periods until the spring, when it is harvested.
