Lopez-Torres, Neckles, Cohen All Win Seats On Judicial Bench

Margarita Lopez-Torres was re-elected as Kings County Surrogate Court Judge, D. Bernadette Neckles was elected as a Kings County Civil Court Judge and Caroline Cohen was elected as the Kings County 6th District Civil Court Judge last night.

According to the unofficial results in the Surrogate Court race, Lopez Torres received 24,610 votes or about 53 percent of the electorate to easily outdistance Meredith Jones, who received 11,536 or about 25 percent of the electorate, and Elena Baron, who garnered 10,385 votes or about 22 percent of the total tally.

In the boroughwide Civil Court Bench sea race, Neckles received 31,160 votes or about 72 percent of the electorate to Edward King’s 11,994 votes or about 28 percent of the electorate.

Cohen won the 6th Municipal Civil Court bench seat with 6,477 votes or 43 percent of the electorate followed by Alice Nicholson, who 3,395 or 23 percent of the electorate; Chinyelu Udoh, who had 2,886 votes or about 19 percent of the electorate; and Tehilah Berman, who garnered 2108 votes or about 14 percent of the total tally.

The 6th Municipal District includes Crown Heights, Flatbush, East Flatbush and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
