In an effort to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover, and unite the different religions and cultures of Brooklyn, The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project is hosting a Seder-type of dinner event on Sunday in Flatbush.

Passover is an eight-day holiday that commemorates the liberation of Jews from Egyptian slavery, The Seder is the ceremonial dinner for the first night or first two nights of Passover and recounts the Biblical Exodus story from Egypt.

Several elected officials from around the borough have invited to The Bridge’s Seder event, including  U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams, City Council Member Mathieu Eugene and Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte.

The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project Founder and President Mark Meyer Appel.

“The Interfaith Unity Seder will host diverse religious leaders, dignitaries and representatives of all faiths united at one table. The evening will include official greetings and teachings from the Passover Seder, focusing on the theme of peace. We are excited to unite New Yorkers as we celebrate Passover, Easter, Ramadan and all faiths as we unite through hope,” said Bridge Founder and President Mark Meyer Appel.

In addition to enjoying free international gourmet foods, Appel’s events often features some of the best live music Brooklyn has to offer.  In this event the guests bands include one in which excellent vocalist Felina Backer will front, and another that vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ezzy Gluck will front.

The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project was established 20 years ago to advocate for social change. The organization has worked to get social issues and health initiatives enacted into law.

It also works to expand services for children with special needs and advocates for citywide programs to address health issues like diabetes, asthma and obesity.

The Interfaith Unity Seder is slated for between 5-9 p.m., this Sunday, April 14 at 1894 Flatbush Ave., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Seder portion of the program starts at 6 p.m. For more information, visit thebridgemcp.org.
