The National Football League may have their Turkey Bowl, but Yoswein New York (YNY) has the “Turkey Classic,” in the grand sport of shuffleboarding to raise funds for the Anthony Genovesi Scholarship at St. Francis College.

The late Anthony J. Genovesi was a distinguished public servant and attorney, who lived and represented the Canarsie in the then 39th Assembly District (now the 59th Assembly District) from 1986 until his tragic death in a car accident in 1998.

Tony was a passionate advocate for education and for the underdog, and he will always be remembered as a staunch believer in the ability of government to positively impact peoples’ lives, recalled Joni Yoswein, president of YNY, a public affairs consulting firm.

Genovesi was also a devoted friend of St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, established in 1859 with its’ continued mission as being dedicated to providing students from all walks of life and from all of New York’s diverse communities with the opportunity to obtain a quality college education at an affordable cost in downtown Brooklyn.

This year’s event Thanksgiving Shuffleboard Classic is slated for between 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Royal Palms Shuffleboard, 514 Union Street in Gowanus.

Individual tickets are $175 and two-person teams are $300. A hundred percent of the proceeds support scholarships at St. Francis College in memory of the late Assemblyman Anthony Genovesi.
