Candidate: New York City Council / District 38

Alexa Avilés (D)

(Incumbent)

Candidate Site

Council Member Alexa Avilés is currently serving in her second term in the New York City Council’s 38th District. She is a proud Boricua mom, Brooklynite, and democratic socialist dedicated to public service and ensuring all people have what they need to thrive.

Avilés has championed working class communities in South Brooklyn, passing laws to combat pollution and traffic in Red Hook, and improved transparency for NYCHA management and NYPD civilian stops. She has fought hard for budget justice, securing millions for park and school upgrades and opposing the mayor’s cuts to vital services. She also chairs the Committee on Immigration.
