Mamdani urges Trump administration to delay SNAP stocking rules that could threaten NYC bodegas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday that retailers must begin complying with new federal food-stocking requirements Wednesday, despite Mayor Zohran Mamdani‘s request for a six-month delay to give New York City bodegas more time to comply.

In a statement to amNewYork, the USDA defended the rules, saying Congress first called for stricter stocking requirements in 2014 and that the changes would give SNAP recipients more food choices.
