New Hyde Park tightens parking permits, considers fee increases

The Village of New Hyde Park is tightening its parking permit requirements and considering higher fees for 2027 as officials seek to ensure municipal parking privileges go to eligible residents and workers.

At its Oct. 15 Board of Trustees meeting, New Hyde Park Mayor Christopher Devane said applicants for resident parking permits must provide a driver’s license, vehicle registration and utility bill showing the same address. The village is also considering increasing fees for certain permits next year. Devane said the village had not consistently enforced the documentation requirements in the past, but officials now want to verify that applicants actually live at the addresses they claim.
