Several organizations and high-ranking officials have picked a side in one of the state’s battleground congressional districts, with U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-Glen Cove) garnering support from many coalitions and groups while former New York State Assembly Member Mike LiPetri, the Republican challenger, is backed by President Donald Trump and other top Republicans.
Suozzi has numbers on his side, as he has the public support of at least 34 labor unions and worker organizations, at least nine environmental, health and gun-safety organizations, and at least 21 civil rights, political reform and other political organizations. Suozzi’s list of supporters also includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Newsday, the Glen Cove PBA and the New York City District Council of Carpenters.
