Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Monday that the state will begin mailing energy rebate checks of up to $200 to 8.2 million households starting Sept. 21, with payments continuing through December.
The checks are part of the state’s $1 billion Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate (POWER) program included in the fiscal year 2026-27 state budget. It is intended to provide financial relief to New Yorkers facing higher utility and energy costs, the governor’s office said.
