The families of two people who died in NYPD custody last summer sued the city Thursday over its failure to respond to their Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests for details about what happened during their final moments.
Relatives of Christopher Nieves, 46, and Saniyah Cheatham, 18, filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court after City Hall did not respond to their FOIL requests in an attempt to compel the city to turn over records that document what happened in the hours and minutes before they died.
