Nassau ends ICE partnership, Blakeman calls it ‘saddest day’

Nassau County has terminated its formal cooperation agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under a new state law, County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced on Wednesday, Aug.26, calling the move “one of the saddest days” of his tenure.

Blakeman said Nassau complied with the state’s deadline to end the agreements despite his continued opposition to the law, which he called dangerous and said would make the county less safe.
