Council Member Joann Ariola and a number of Rockaway civic groups have called for the creation of a new Rockaway Adult Care Facility Oversight Task Force to help tackle what they described as “long-standing quality-of-life concerns” related to several facilities near the Beach 116th Street commercial corridor, including reports of “aggressive panhandling and loitering.”
Ariola, along with the Beach 116th Street Merchant Association, Rockaway Civic Association, residents and business owners, has penned a letter to a number of city and state agencies to call for a comprehensive review of adult care facilities and adult day programs in the area.
