LIPA opposes Neptune hikes, pushes for new power highway

While a Long Island Power Authority regulatory filing points to limitations in the Propel NY Energy multi-billion-dollar cables, the Long Island Power Authority and the New York Power Authority both called the project an essential kind of electric Expressway for the region last week.

LIPA, in a filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, sought to get FERC to step in after the owners of the Neptune Regional Transmission System’s underwater cable sought rate hikes.
