Gilgo killer judge Mazzei should be forced to retire, advocates sa

The judge who recently sentenced the Gilgo Beach serial killer to life in prison should be forced to retire because his sentences are overly harsh, a criminal justice reform advocacy group said.

Syracuse-based nonprofit Center for Community Alternatives urged the New York State Office of Court Administration’s Administrative Board to deny state Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei’s request to let him continue presiding over cases for an additional two years after the state’s mandatory retirement age of 70 for judges.
