Georgia hitman held without bail after being charged in murder of a Corona man in exchange for $20K that was not paid: DA

A Queens grand jury indicted a Georgia man for a murder-for-hire plot against a Corona resident in March.

Luis Belis, 25, of Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County, was arraigned Tuesday on an indictment charging him with murder in the first degree and other related crimes for fatally shooting 36-year-old Jairo Javier Vinces-Cobena on a Corona street around the corner from his home on 98th Street. Belis allegedly contracted with a third-party contact in Ecuador to kill the victim, whom he did not know, for a promised $20,000 payment.
