Council Member Shanel Thomas-Henry welcomed Council Speaker Julie Menin, elected officials and the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Sam Levine to Corona Tuesday, July 28, for a student loan outreach event informing District 21 residents about the free programs available to them to help pay off their student debt.
Thomas-Henry was joined by Levine, Menin, Assemblymember Larinda Hooks and Council Member Harvey Epstein for the outreach event outside her district office on Corona Avenue, which took place in response to the end of the federal student loan SAVE Plan, which requires roughly 7 million borrowers to select a new repayment plan within a 90-day window starting July 1.
