Cedar Island Lighthouse Lantern Returns as Restoration Reaches Major Milestone

Friends of the Cedar Island Lighthouse (FOTCIL) is marking a major milestone in the restoration of one of Long Island’s historic landmarks with the return of the Cedar Island Lighthouse’s original lantern, bringing the preservation effort one step closer to completion.

A public ceremony celebrating the lantern’s return will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1 on the grounds of the Sag Harbor Yacht Club on Bay Street, across from the Sag Harbor Farmers Market. The lantern will then be restored before being reinstalled atop the lighthouse at Cedar Point in East Hampton.
