Mayor Zohran Mamdani is spending $43.2 million to expand New York City’s coastal resilience bureau from six employees to roughly 75 as the city prepares to operate and maintain billions of dollars in new flood-protection infrastructure.
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will hire 69 engineers, planners, inspectors, maintenance workers and other specialists for the Bureau of Coastal Resilience, City Hall announced Friday.
