U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi pushes for temporary protected status retention for Salvadorans

Salvadorans’ temporary protected status in the United States is in danger of running out for the first time in 25 years, something U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi is fighting against.

Under the TPS statute, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is required to determine whether to extend or terminate a country’s designation. For El Salvador, the current TPS designation remains in effect until Sept. 9.
