A developer’s proposal to build a $1 billion data center in Yaphank is seeing strong opposition from the Town of Brookhaven and Gov. Kathy Hochul, both of which have imposed moratoriums on the project.
Earlier this year, WF Industrial, also known as Wildflower, proposed to the Brookhaven Town Board the $1 billion project to build a data center, to be called the Brookhaven Digital Infrastructure Facility, that would occupy 549,000 square feet of space on 71 acres. It would also mean millions of dollars to the local school district.
