Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he is still committed to following through on the other half of his campaign promise to make city buses fast and free, despite releasing a 51-page plan on Wednesday focused on the former, without mentioning the latter.
Hizzoner, along with Gov. Kathy Hochul, MTA Chair Janno Lieber, and city Department of Transportation Commissioner Mike Flynn, rolled out the plan — “Next Stop” — during a celebratory Downtown Brooklyn news conference on Wednesday morning. The event was filled with MTA bus-themed decorations, along with speeches that painted a bold vision of what a better functioning bus network could look like.
