Great Neck Plaza eyes taxi fare hike, landscaper permit

Residents could soon pay more for taxi rides in the Village of Great Neck Plaza under a proposal that would gradually increase fares over the next three years, while commercial landscapers may also be required to obtain annual village permits under separate measures advanced Wednesday by the Board of Trustees.

The board authorized a public hearing on amendments to the village code that would raise fares charged by taxis licensed by the village. The first hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5, with a second hearing required before the changes can be adopted.
