The union representing carriage horse drivers and the Central Park Conservancy are blaming one another for the death of an equine named Deniz last week.
The union, TWU Local 100, released a necropsy report it had prepared by Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine on Deniz that revealed the horse likely keeled over and died from eating a Japanese yew — a highly toxic plant for horses. It claimed Deniz ingested the plant along the carriage drive near East 90th Street.
