NY’s 7th Congressional District candidate Vichal Kumar releases plan to ‘resist, reclaim and reimagine’ AI’s development and use

Vichal Kumar, one of the Democratic contenders for New York’s 7th Congressional District, unveiled a federal plan for artificial intelligence (AI) on Tuesday, June 2. The plan, titled “AI in NY-7: On Our Terms, Not Theirs,” is built on a principle that dictates the public, not tech companies, should decide how AI is used, according to a press release.

The federal plan outlines how the federal government can “resist AI’s harm, reclaim public control, and take bold steps to reimagine four areas where AI is reshaping daily life: data center development, worker automation and displacement, privacy and surveillance, and safeguards for children.”
