On Sunday, April 26, The Ridgewood Democratic Club (RDC) drew dozens of constituents for a widely anticipated forum that featured four Democratic candidates — Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Public Defender Vichal Kumar, Council Member Julie Won and Assembly Member Claire Valdez — vying to succeed U.S. Rep. Nydia Velázquez for the 7th District Congressional seat.
Co-sponsored by RDC, Queens County Young Democrats (QCYD), Central Queens Independent Democrats (CQID) and Latino Democrats of NYC, the contenders joined together to answer pre-selected questions from the audience. The club’s headquarters, located at 60-70 Putnam Ave., hosted the forum at 4 p.m. for the candidates to outline their campaigns and relay proposed solutions to the attendees, helping them make an informed decision ahead of the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, June 23.
