Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers has renewed calls for a Level 1 or 2 trauma center in Rockaway after Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s $124.7 billion budget proposal did not allocate funding for the center last week.
Brooks-Powers said Friday that it is critical that the city does not “lose another budget cycle” to secure the necessary funding to construct a trauma center on the peninsula.
