City Council presses Mayor’s Antisemitism Office over definition, access and strategy

City Council members used the first hearing of the body’s Task Force to Combat Antisemitism on April 22 to scrutinize the Mayor’s Office to Combat Antisemitism, questioning how it defines anti-Jewish hate, how the public can reach it, and how it plans to grow. 

Phylisa Wisdom, the executive director of the mayor’s office, told council members that the office is still building out staff and described its mandate as coordinating non-law-enforcement responses to antisemitic incidents, liaising with the Jewish community, law enforcement,  and other agencies, improving reporting and victim services, and developing policy and programming aimed at prevention.
